The future:

Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn is a vibrant young Club. The cultural talent within the Club is evident but as yet untapped.
It is our aim to follow on the success of previous years in Scór na nÓg and increase our number of entries in the various competitions

Our Club is celebrating its first success in Letterkenny's annual St.Patrick's Day Parade! This year the parade had an added dimension with entries being invited to mark the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Letterkenny in 1611.Letterkenny Town Council sponsored a special award of €250 for the most historic entry and our Club was declared the winner!

A small Committee had met just a few weeks ago and decided on the theme of "The Monks of Aughaninshin Abbey 1611" and set about creating their vision. This involved much hard work over a short period of time by dedicated Club Members,Parents and of course our younger members as evidenced in the Club Photos section of our website. The finished float took its place in the parade on a sunny St.Patrick's afternoon and was witnessed and applauded by a crowd of 10,000 approx. The news of the Club's success was greeted with excitement and satisfaction in a job well done by all.
Already talk is of next year's parade and a resolution to start planning in January 2012!

Thanks to Stephen Doherty,Oifigeach Gaeilge agus Cultúir,Maura Uí Bhaoill,Yvonne Uí Bhaoill and all members, parents and children too numerous to mention who assisted in any way with this success which marks another step forward in the Club's development of its cultural and heritage talents.Special thanks also to Terence Quinn who kindly supplied the lorry.
