The club will turn their attention this weekend to the eagerly awaited U21championship final. The game against St Nauls is fixed for McCumhaill Park on Sunday with a 2pm throw In. All members are asked to come out and support the team for the final fixture of the season.
 The Club are holding a night at the races in Arena 7 on Friday   11th November. All members and players are asked to support this event.
The underage Hurling and Football presentation night will take place on Saturday the 12th November in the Vestry 3-6pm
Indoor gaelic training continues in Woodland School next week
■Monday 6-7pm for girls 9-11yrs: 7-8pm for girls 12-14yrs.
■Monday 8-9pm ladies gaelic.
■Camogie training in Woodland Tuesday 6.30-7.30pm

Club Notes W/Ending 23rd October

The Senior team played Robert Emmetts in their final game of the season on Saturday last at Páirc na nGael. With the home side fielding a very young team, we put it up to the promotion hopefuls and were a shade unlucky not to get something out of the game. A good performance from the boys with the Cannon brothers, Erin Bradley and Darren Hunter particularly impressive. Final Score Letterkenny Gaels 1-6, Castlefinn 2-5. 
 
Training will continue for the Under 21s and we are hopeful that the final will be played on week-ending the 6th November.
The Club are holding a night at the races in Arena 7 on Friday 11th November. Race cards are available on the website or from the Club executive.  All members and players are asked to support this event.
There will be no girls gaelic or camogie training on week commencing the31st Oct due to Halloween break

Club Notes W/Ending 17/10/2011 
reserves travelled to Dunkineely on Saturday last for the penultimate fixture of the season. The depleted squad performed well but were defeated by the home team. The final league fixture versus Robert Emmetts at Pairc na nGael is scheduled for Saturday next.
 
The U21s await a date for their final which is now expected to be Sunday the 6th November. The Club are holding a night at the races in Arena 7 on Friday   4th November. All members and players are asked to support this event.

Club Notes W/Ending 10/10/11
The Minor teams good championship run came to an end in Convoy on Sunday morning last when they were defeated by Four Masters by a single point. Even though we conceded soft goals in the opening ten minutes we recovered well and were four pts up going into the last quarter. The boys from Donegal Town finished the game off with five unanswered pts. On the day  Aron Diver, Ciaran Cannon and Odhran McMacken stood out for the Gaels. Thanks to all the players and team management for their hard work throughout the season.   

The inaugural Liam Emery Memorial hurling tournament took place in Páirc na Gael last Sunday. U12 teams from Dungloe, Setanta and Four Masters took part with the Gaels boys and girls. In competitive, good spirited matches between the teams, Gaels won the Liam Emery Shield. Norma and Declan Emery presented all players and managers with commemorative medals and remembered Liam’s love of hurling. Thanks to all teams and mentors who took part, to all who made refreshments on the day and to the Emery family.

 Club Notes W/Ending 2/10/11
Congratulations to our minor team this week on winning the Northern Minor Division 2 championship defeating Red Hughs 3-8 to 1-7 in the final in McCumhaill Pk on Sunday . The team were slow to settle and were three points down at half time. However they came good in the second half with the entire team raising their performance in the second half. It was a great experience for the team playing in the curtain raiser to a historic County Final. The minors now play Four Masters this weekend in the County Semi Final.
 
Our Senior reserves bowed out of the Junior B championship on Saturday evening  when they were defeated by Naomh Ultan in Convoy on a score of 1-10 to 0-10. This game was evenly balanced and could have went either way. We wish Naomh Ultan well for the remainder of the championship. The seniors and reserves have a double header in the league away to Naomh Ultan on Saturday evening next
 
Well done to U12player Donal McCormack who represented the club at the Go-game exhibition at half time on Sunday.

U13 hurlers were narrowly defeated by Carndonagh in the league semi-final. Well done to all who played over the past few weeks.
The Liam Emery memorial hurling tournament  will take place at Páirc na nGael on Sunday morning next  This will be a blitz format with first game commencing at 11am. 
 
The club are holding a  night at the races on Friday  4th November 2011 in Arena 7 at 9pmRace forms are available on the website. Sell as many horses as you can and return them to Dan or Sharon on or before Friday 27th October 2011. We also invite you come and join in the craic on the night.

The Club held a very successful Family Fun day at Páirc na nGael on Sunday last. Thanks to all those who set up tents, provided the home baking, sandwiches, teas, barbecue and much more. Our Senior team were defeated in a home league game against Red Hughs on Saturday evening. The reserves will play in the championship  against Naomh Ultan this weekend. Time and details available at training. 
The Minor team are scheduled to play Red Hughs in the Northern Division Final this coming weekend .All Details will be available at training.

Club notes weekending 18/09/11

The Club are holding the Annual Family Fun Day this Sunday 25th September 2011 @ 2pm at our grounds Páirc na nGael, Glebe. The Fun Day starts at 2pm with athletics and on to loads of Novelty events  including Puc Fada, Kic Fada, Penalty Competition, Spud and Spoon,3 Legged,Sack,Wheelbarrow and Family Relay races. Other Novelty events include the popular Stocks, Wellie and Horseshoe Throwing, Lucky Dip, Clothes Line Challenge and Face Painting.Barbecue and Refreshments served. Under 5's Play area. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission free. Nominal charges for events. Everyone is welcome.
Our Minor team continued their good run in the championship with a comprehensive victory over Buncrana in Scarvey on Friday evening last. Our forwards were sharper on the night and overall a good team performance. A Speedy recovery to Peter Doherty and Keelan Boyce who both picked up injuries on the night. The team now advance to the Northern Final and County semi final.
The Senior were defeated in the Junior championship playoff  in Milford on Saturday evening last. The experienced Downings outfit were excellent on the night and we wish them well for the rest of the championship. The Adult teams will have home games against Red Hughs this weekend. Details will be available at training.    
Gaels U12 hurlers were narrowly defeated in the "C" final last Thursday. In a competitive match, Aodh Rua proved physically strong although Gaels battled hard to the end. Well done to all players who competed in the league matches. U13 Hurling training Tues 6.30pm

Club News W/Ending 10th Sept 2011
The U21s advanced to the Final of the U21 B championship on Tuesday evening last when they defeated Milford in O'Donnell Pk. Final Score was 3.14 to 1.4. They will play the winners of Carndonagh or St Nauls in the final.
The minors travelled to Termon on Friday evening for the Minor championship quarter final and came away with a good win (3.13 to 1.10). They play Buncrana in the Northern semi final in Scarvey on Friday evening. Throw Inn at 6pm.
The Seniors and Reserves had league games at home to Na Rossa on Saturday evening. The reserves had a good win (2.9 to 1.4) and the seniors drew  on a sore of 2.8 to 1.11. The seniors turn their attention to the championship again this weekend when they play Downings in the playoff. Throw in 6.30pm at Moyle Park in Milford. 
The U15s were defeated by Naomh Colmcille at Newtown in the semi final of the championship on Sunday morning last. Final Score was 1.8 to 0.14. Thanks to Charlie, Pat, James and the panel for all their hard work throughout the season.   
Gaels U8 hurlers travelled to Aodh Rua, Ballyshannon on Sunday for their monthly blitz and returned home undefeated in four matches. The boys and girls have not been beaten this year! Well done to all players and coaches!
U12 hurlers finished their league campaign at home to Buncrana last Thursday. The boys and girls all battled hard against an impressive team.
This week Gaels meet Aodh Rua in the "C" final at Páirc na Gaeil on Thursday. Come along and support the team. Training on Tuesday 6.30pm.
Congratulations to Shay Doherty who came fifth in the U12 county skills competition held in Páirc na Gaeil on Sunday evening. Well done also to Peter O’ Donnell and Úna Quinn who represented Gaels. The competition was won by Dylan Duffy, Buncrana.
U13 gaelic team recorded a victory away to Downings in the league. Training on Wednesday at 6.30pm.
Congratulations to our club Secretary Jim McGlynn who has been recently elected as Treasurer of the County Board. A Great honour for the club as this is our first member on the county executive.

News W/Ending  4th Sept
Our U21s recorded a good victory over Lifford in the Quarter final of the U 21 championship on Tuesday evening last.  Final Score 1-13 to 0.7. They are due to play Milford in the semi-final on Tuesday the 6th September in O'Donnell Park at 6.30pm.
Both senior teams played in the championship at the weekend. The reserves travelled to Malin for the 2nd Leg 1st Rd of the championship and came away with a hard earned victory 3-8 to 2-8. Oisín Mc Elhinney, Kevin Kilkenny, Anthony McDaid, Shane Gildea were outstanding.
In the Junior championship at Pairc na nGael Downings held on for victory as the home side came more and more into the game. Oisín Cannon, Ciaran Cannon and Aaron Bradley performed well for the home side. The Playoff is on Saturday 17th Sept. Both teams have League games at home on Sat evening next against Na Rossa Throw inn times are 4.30 and 6pm.
The Minors play Termon in the quarter Final of the championship at the Burn on Friday evening with a 6pm throw inn. The U15s play Naomh Colmcille in the Semi-Final of the championship in Newton on Sunday with a 12noon throw inn 
U12 hurlers battled hard against a strong St. Eunan’s but were unable to take the points. Final match at home vs Buncrana on Thurs 8th Sept.
U13 hurling competition starts on Sunday 11th, details at training on Tues 6.30pm.
Gaels young U13 gaelic team tried their best against Fanad Gaels and finished the match strongly. Next match is away to Downings next Saturday 10th Sept.

News W/Ending 28th August
Gaels U12 hurlers travelled to Carndonagh in the league last Thursday and came away with the points. In a competitive match, Gaels goal scores ensured the victory. Well done to the boys and girls who played. Next match is St. Eunan’s at Páirc na Gaeil on Thursday 1st September.
U13 gaelic league started with an away match in Glenswilly. Missing a number of players, Gaels battled hard against a physically strong Glenswilly team – all players tried their best on the day. Next match is at home to Fanad Gael next Saturday – details at training on Wed 6.30pm.
Girls gaelic continued with challenge matches against Gweedore in Magheragallon last Monday. Our three teams played some enjoyable games – thanks to Gweedore for refreshments afterwards.

The U15s will host Glenswilly in the championship on Sunday next at 12 noon.

The Minors have advanced to the next round of the championship and will play Termon at the Burn on Friday the 9th Sept. The U21s are due to play Lifford in the championship on Tuesday the 30th Aug.

Both adult teams are due to play in their respective championships at the weekend. Times will be available at Training on Tuesday and Thursday  The Club wishes a speedy recovery to Paul Daly who recently sustained a hand injury in the championship.

News W/Ending 21st August
A huge THANK YOU to all who took part in the sponsored walk in the Park on Sunday 21st August 2011. Although there was a disappointing turn out those who did come out for the club raised a very impressive amount. Congratulations to Peter O'Donnell who raised a very impressive €171.00 and won himself a sports voucher.

Congratulations to Gaels U8 hurlers who played some excellent matches at the blitz at Páirc na Gael last weekend and who were undefeated on the day.
Aodh Rua were the visitors to Páirc na Gael in U12 hurling mini league last Thursday. In a battling display, Gaels boys and girls were victorious with well taken goals and points. All team members played their part. Next match is away to Carndonagh on Thursday 25th. Bus details at training Tuesday.
Camogie training continues on Tuesday.
Congratulations to Niall Sweeney, selected for U13 hurling development squad. Good luck to Ciaran Kelly, Cormac Cannon and U14 development squad who take part in an All Ireland blitz on Aug 27th.

Gweedore girls played Gaels in challenge matches last Monday at Páirc na Gael. The two Gaels teams again played great matches with both large squads winning. The girls showed how well they have progressed this year. Thanks to referees and parents who provided cakes and drinks for everyone. Girls return the visit to Gweedore on Monday 22nd.
Our reserves had a very impressive won over Malin in the Championship on Sunday last and will travel to Inishowen with confidence for the return leg.
 
The Minors hosted Carndonagh on Friday evening last. Good performances from Ciaran Lynch, Aron Diver, Ciaran Cannon John Doran and Conor McBrearty ensured victory for the Gaels. The return leg will be played in Carn on Friday evening. Bus leaving the Pin at 5.15pm

News W/Ending 14th August
We travelled to Downings on Saturday evening for the First Round 1st Leg of the championship. Downings got off too the perfect start with an early goal, a cushion they held on to for the rest of the match.  With both defences coming out on top Downings won a low scoring game 1-9 to 0.6 The return leg is scheduled for the 27th August.

The Junior B championship resumes this weekend with a home match on Sunday against Malin at 3pm.
 
The Minors host Carndonagh in the championship on Friday evening at Páirc na nGael with a 7.30pm Throw In. 

The U15 League commences on Sunday next with a 12 noon throw in at Dunfanaghy against St Michaels.
 
The club extends best wishes to Daniel O Driscoll who has recently moved to Waterford.

News W/Ending 7th August
Both senior teams travelled to  Dooey on Saturday evening last and came away with two defeats. With holidays a factor it is hoped that performances will be much improved this weekend as both teams are competing in the 1st round of their respective championships. 
We wish a speedy recovery to the Na Rossa player who picked up what seemed a nasty injury during the senior match. The seniors play Downings away in the Junior championship and the Junior B team play Malin. Details of times will be available at training.
The U14s are scheduled to play Moville in the championship on Wednesday the 10th at Páirc na nGael. Throw Inn at 7pm. 
The minors are due to play Carndonagh in the 1st Round of the championship on Friday the 19th August  Gaels U12 hurlers won their mini league match away to Setanta last Thursday. On a wet night, the boys and girls all played well and showed competitive spirit and great skills. Next match is away to McCumhaills on Thurs 11th, bus details at training Tues, 6.30pm, followed by a home match vs Aodh Rua, Thurs 18th August.
 
Congratulations to Ciaran Kelly and Cormac Cannon who played in the Donegal U14 hurling squad who took part in an Ulster Feile blitz, Division 1, in Monaghan last Saturday. Donegal defeated Down and Armagh on the day.
 
Gaels held a mini Gaelic academy for girls last week. Great fun was had by all who took part, thanks to coaches and parents who helped.  Camogie training continues Tuesday 6.30pm, new players welcome.
