The senior football teams had mixed results last weekend at Pairc na nGael when they welcomed Naomh Bríd. The reserves lost their game while the seniors won by the minimum. The senior teams are free this weekend with the U-21, Junior A & B championships taking place the following week.

See Club Facebook for more details.

Our Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday 4th or 11th September at Pairc na nGael. (Date to be confirmed). In conjunction with the Fun Day we are running a Poster Competition for U-6, U-10 and U-14 years. The theme of the poster is 'Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn-20 bliain ag fás' because this year we celebrate twenty years of Letterkenny Gaels. Posters to be on A4 paper, name and age and address on the BACK of the poster. Entries to be brought to the Clubhouse on the Family Fun Day. Entry fee of €1. Winning posters will be printed, framed and put up in the clubhouse. Prizes for each age category.

Please see Club Facebook for more details.

On Thursday evening our young U-12 hurlers made the journey to The Scarvey to take on Buncrana in the U-12 league.

Both teams put on a great show of hurling with the Gaels claiming a deserved victory. Well done all.

The U-8 footballers travelled to 'The Glen' this week to play against Glenswilly. Both clubs fielded two teams with a good mix of boys and girls participating. Although the night was wet these young footballers put on a very high standard of football for the watching crowd. The travelling Gaels were very grateful for the hospitality received and thank the underage management team at Glenswilly.  They are looking forward to a return fixture at Pairc na nGael.

Training continues every Sunday morning from 11am - 12noon for u6s, u8s and u10s age groups.  If Sunday morning doesn’t suit, the club also provides an additional training session for the U8s and U10s age groups on Wednesday evenings from 7 – 8 pm. To enquire about the underage football training, Parents should contact John McDermott (086) 8561768 (under 6s), Brian Sweeney (087) 2282386 (under 8s), David O’Callaghan (086) 769 0305 (under 10’s) and Donal Murphy (087) 6858546 (Under 12’s) or come along any Sunday or Wednesday.  New boys and Girls welcome to join in the fun any week.

Bingo continues every Monday in Arena 7. The Jackpot this week is €2450. Doors from 8pm. Eyes down 9pm. All welcome.

During the week, five Letterkeny Gaels U-12 hurlers, Matthew Winters, Cian Page, Caolan Boyle, Conal Boyle and Finn Doherty went to Croke Park to play in a blitz with thirty other players from hurling clubs across Donegal. Among these were rival clubs St.Eunan's, Buncrana, Burt, Setanta, Ballyshannon Gweedore Mac Cumhaills and Carndonagh.

The teams were mixed up and the lads played three competitive games each. After the experience of playing on the hallowed turf the lads were taken on a behind the scenes tour of the museum, player dressing rooms and player celebration room. On the road home the lads took a detour for dinner in Castleblaney.

This was a great experience and team bonding session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the lads. Club hurling rivalry was put to the side for the day and good friendships were made. Outdoor Hurling training for U-6, U-8 & U-10 continues every Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Hurls and helmets provided. New players welcome.

U-12 to U-18 hurling continues every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm - 7.30pm.

Congratulations to Senior ladies player Leona Russell who played for the Irish Banshees in London at the weekend in the AFL European Championships.

U-12 girls football training takes place at the pitch every Sunday morning from 11am-12noon. All welcome.
