last night against Gaoth Dobhair at Pairc na Gael. After being defeated last week in dunfanaghy against a strong St Michaels team it was important the Gaels got the 2points.  Played in wet and blustry conditions the gaels were quickest out of the blocks. The defence were on top Shane Graham and Joe Friel kept the midfield ticking over and Jack Patton was causing serious problems at centre half forward. Graham put over 3 massive scores from 40yards out on the sideline with his right foot, to the delight of the management Oisin Cannon and Aaron Stewart. Cormac Cannon was pulling all the strings from centre half back and he managed to score 2 goals soloing through the middle. At half time it was 4 - 6 to 1-0 in the gaels favour. In the 2nd half a few positional changes were made to counter against a strong wind that was blowing. Joe Friel got the first score of the 2nd half when he broke through the middle to tap the ball over the bar. Gweedore then hit a purple patch scoring 2-3, however gaels responded when Cathair Doherty went on one of his trademark runs from deep which were causing Gaoth Dobhair all sorts of boder finished off a lovely move with a point. This put gaels back on top and Jack Patton scored another point where he won the ball out on the sideline and soloed straight for the posts and tapped it over the bar. Aiden Hanley then stepped up to kick the last score of the game. All in all it was a good performance for Gaels, but with tougher tests to come it is important that everyone keeps their feet on the ground.
