Gaels stay Top

The Leitir boys playing against the wind started brightly and were four points up by the 17th minute with all the scores coming from the boot of young full forward Odhran Molloy. The home side looked lethargic and matters got worse when they lost fullback Conor Browne with an injury in the first quarter. However after some wayward shooting their opening scores came from the boot of Conor McBrearty. A goal from the same player in the 29th minute gave them a narrow cushion at half time.

 Half Time Score:
 Na Rossa 0-04
 Letterkenny Gaels 1-02

Positional switches made during the interval had the Gaels looking more composed in the second period. McBrearty and Conor McCahill exchanged scores before Keelan Devenney found the net for the visitors to give Na Rossa a two point lead. The home side responded and minor player Sean McDonagh now operating from defence got forward and kicked a great point. With Brendan O Brien taking control around the middle Gaels were now breaking down the visitors defence and Colm O’Breslin obliged with a goal and a point. McBrearty was close with a few goal scoring efforts before McDonagh and Patrick Doherty eased the Gaels to a home victory. Gaels remain top of the table and are well placed for their remaining two league games.
