Gaelic4Girls National Blitz Day, 5th July

posted 6 Jul 2011, 13:24 by Letterkenny Gaels
30 girls from Letterkenny Gaels travelled to Croke Park to take part in the Gaelic4Girls National Blitz Day.  Ably assisted by coaches and parents, the girls divided into two teams and played five matches each against teams from all over Ireland.  In warm sunny conditions, the girls showed how well they have progressed in just 9 months and demonstrated some great skills and scores.  All the girls were a credit to the Gaels club and our appreciation is sent to the Ladies Gaelic Association and regional co-ordinator, Eliza Downey, for a very well organised day.
Gaelic4Girls National Blitz Day, 5th July
In a special day for two families, there were two sets of twins playing for the Gaels, Holly and Aoife Rossbotham and Úna and Ellen Quinn, and three Quinn sisters, Úna, Ellen and Eímear.  Helping out on the day, proud parent Tom Murray finally realised a lifetime ambition to play hurling on the Croke Park pitch!

The day was also Megan Bernado’s last match with the Gaels and the occasion was marked with a presentation to Megan to say thank you for her playing efforts and to wish her good luck for the future.

Thanks to coaches and sunburnt parents who all enjoyed a great day and particularly to all our players.  Well done girls!
