Both adult teams travelled to Newtown on Saturday evening last. The reserves were first up and were unlucky in going down to a 1pt defeat. In the senior match we contained the home team until they pulled away in the final quarter. Overall it was a encouraging display from two young Gaels teams.
The minor championship resumes this weekend with a quarter final against Glenfinn. Time to be confirmed.
U14 gaelic team finished the season with a win in the league shield final away to Robert Emmetts. The boys stepped up their game in the second half and took some great scores. Captain Kyle Silva received the Shield to take home to Pairc na nGaeil, the team's second piece of silverware this year.
At home to Milford, the U13s started their league with a victory with a strong all-round team performance. Next match is away to Fanad next Friday. A speedy recovery is wished for Joe Doherty.
U13 girls travelled to Termon and despite a second half comeback, were narrowly defeated.
The U12 hurlers won their mini final at home to Setanta last Thursday. The boys and girls took advantage of a strong breeze to run up a high score in the second half. Everyone played their part for the team.
Gaels hosted an excellent U8 hurling blitz on Sunday morning with 60 children from Gaels, Burt, Carndonagh, Aodh Rua, St.Eunans, Four Masters taking part. There was some very skilful and entertaining hurling from all clubs despite the rain with the home team winning all but two of their games. Many thanks to referees Stephen, Cathair, Rory and Donal and to parents who helped with refreshments.
