The Club are holding a SafeTALK workshop this Monday evening 20th February in the Clubroom. Please contact the Club Health & Wellbeing Officer Oisin Cannon on 086 732 5955 to book your place. 

Adh mór leis an fhoireann Scór Dé hAoine seo chugainn. Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn will compete in Solo Ballad, Ballad Group, Drama, Recitation and Quiz this Friday in the County semi final of Scór in the Parish Hall in Muff. If you are free why not go along and support our various groups.

Last Sunday morning our young U-12 hurlers travelled again to Derry for their second blitz of the season. The team are enjoying the preseason preparation and are looking forward to the next blitz this weekend.Indoor Hurling continues every Thursday from 6.30 to 7.30pm in the Aura. The training will continue until 13th March. New members welcome. Hurls and helmets can be provided. 

Under 8 and Under 10's indoor football training resumes for 2017 on Sunday 19th Feb in the Aura from 11am - 12noon. There will be 6 weeks of indoor "skills development" before moving to the pitch at the beginning of April.

Last Sunday morning our young U-12 hurlers had their first outing of 2017 when they travelled to Creggan in Derry for an indoor blitz. The Gaels played Dungloe, Gaoth Dobhair, Strabane and Omagh. The lads are already looking forward to the next blitz this weekend. 

There will be a hurling parents meeting on Monday 13th in the clubroom at 7.30pm. This will be an opportunity for you the parents to meet the coaches and to discuss what you want from us as well as to be informed about the year ahead.  Refreshments provided on the night. The Camogie presentation evening took place last Friday in the Clubroom. A large crowd of excited girls and parents gathered at Pairc na nGael to celebrate a year of club growth and development at Letterkenny Gaels. Highlights included Come Hurl with Me blitz for girls and parents, U12s in Croke Park and lots of fun and laughs. Club PRO and Club Person of the Year, Mark McFadden presented awards to the girls. As usual there was a generous spread courtesy of parents, thanks to all for your efforts.

Congratulations to award winners on the night. U18 player of the year - Emer McHugh, U14 player of the year - Katie McCarthy, U12 appreciation - Tori Ellis & Ava Tully, Outstanding commitment award 2016 - Eimear ui Bhaoghaill.

Training resumes this Friday 3rd Feb in Lyit from 6pm.

Letterkenny Gaels GAA & Donegal Mind Wellness in conjunction with Letterkenny Rugby Football Club are running a 'Men Only' Stress Control Programme starting on Thursday 26th January at the Gaels Clubroom, Glebe. All welcome. See Club Facebook for more information.

The GAA National Draw was launched recently with some fantastic prizes to be won. This is an important fundraiser for the Club with my all the prizes sponsored by Croke Park and proceeds kept by the Club. Letterkenny Gaels GAA Club held their Annual Presentation Function in Arena 7 on Thursday night last. All present enjoyed the usual delightful food which was a welcome break from the typical festive menu.

Presentations were made to the following players:

    • Senior Player of the Year: Sean McDonagh

    • Reserve Player of the Year: Charlie Creevy

    • Most Improved Player of the Year:   Nicky McGarrigle

    •Ladies Player of the year: Denise Gallagher.

    • Under 21 Player of the Year: Aaron Diver

    • Minor Player of the Year: Shay Doherty.

        The Club Person of the Year was awarded to Mark McFadden.


Sympathy is extended to the Deignan family from Maghernnan on the recent death of Gerry.

Our Club AGM will be held on Sunday 8 January 2017 @ 2pm in the Gaels Club Room.

Club Members are encouraged to attend this important event in the Club calendar.

For the younger girls from 12-16 years football/Circuit training is on every Monday from 6.30pm – 7.30pm at the clubhouse. Training is open to all and new members are especially welcome.

The indoor Camogie training will take a break for the Christmas period and will resume in the New Year. Please keep eye on Social Media for dates.

Our annual Hurling Presentation evening took place on Saturday last at the Clubhouse to mark our hurlers achievements during 2016.All players, and their families from under 6 up to minor reflected on a great year of hurling. Five Gaels County minor players presented each child with a medal or certificate for participating in blitzes and matches. Club Chairman Charlie Cannon presented the Minors Players Player of the Year award to Brian Diver. Other award winners on the evening were; Under 14 Players Player of the Year; Matthew Winters and Under 16 Players Player of the Year; Patrick Page. Well done to all the players for your efforts in 2016. A special thanks to our coaches, managers and committee. Thanks also to everyone who helped out on the night of the presentation and to the parents and supporters for a great turn out.


Applications are invited in writing for our Senior, Reserve, Under 21 and Minor/Under 17 Football Team Manager Posts. Written applications must be lodged with Jim McGlynn, Club Secretary by email or post not later than this Friday, 2nd December 2016. With the purchase of every new AIB Home Insurance policy, they will reward customers with a payment of €50 to Letterkenny Gaels GAA club. And the good news for us is that there is no cap on how many reward payments can be made to our club.The Club is already registered for this offer so don't forget to nominate Letterkenny Gaels if you take out your policy with them. Club Passes are available to purchase now through the Club. The Pass initiative was approved by County Committee in respect of Adult League and Championship Club Games only for 2017, including Under 21 but not including Under 18 and below.These Passes would be of benefit to Club members who regularly attend All County League and Championship matches.The cost of the Pass is €149 and can be purchased by contacting 086 2271435.

Donegal GAA will host its annual County Banquet, Club & Individual Awards night on Saturday the 3rd Decemeber in the Abbey Hotel Donegal town. Dinner will be served at 7:30 sharp, this year will see the Inaugural Gradam Shéamuis MhicGéidigh Club Player of the Championship award voted on by members of the Donegal Media, this award is in memory of the late Seamus and is sponsored by Raidio na Gaeltachta where Seamus was for many years the Voice of Donegal GAA, also on the night the 2012 All Ireland Football Champions retired players will be honoured. The Club of the year at all grades along with the Inter County player of the year, and many other Awards will bring to a close the Donegal GAA Calendar for 2016. Tickets Cost €40 and a special rate for B&B is available to tickets holders. Tickets are available in your Local Club or by contacting the county board office.

As we count down the weeks until Christmas, club members are reminded that Letterkenny Gaels merchandise, which includes training tops, track-suits, jerseys, hats, scarfs etc. can be purchased in Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure.

  • The indoor Camogie training continues every Friday evening at the LYIT from 6-7pm. Hurls and helmets provided. New players most welcome.
  • The outdoor underage football training has also concluded for the season. Please see Facebook in the coming weeks for dates and venues for indoor training.
  • The indoor underage hurling continues every Thursday from 6.30-7.30pm in the Aura. Helmets and hurls will be provided for new players. The term will run for nine weeks before Christmas and six after. All welcome.


Bingo continues every Monday in Arena 7. The Jackpot this week is €3150. Lines are €40 and Houses are €130. Doors from 8pm. Eyes down 9pm. All welcome.

Míle buíochas to all the Gaels who competed in Scór on Friday night past. Congratulations to the quiz team who won and will go on to the county final in two weeks time. The standard of all the competitions was very high and unfortunately we have not progressed to county level in the other competitions. Very positive feedback from the judges and plenty to build on for next year!! Go raibh maith agaibh as an obair crua go leir.

Letterkenny Gaels hosted Camogie 4 teens U-10 blitz last Saturday in the LYIT. 65 girls from 5 clubs played some excellent matches. The Gaels and Carndonagh U-8's also played 2 matches with Gaels girls putting in a great display. Next up is an U12 blitz on Saturday 26th.


Letterkenny Gaels Ladies are delighted to announce their Winter Ladies Football Training program. During the winter months the Circuit based training will take place indoors at the Gaels Clubroom on the Thorn Road. The training for 16's to adult continues every Friday evening from 6.30-7.30pm. For the younger girls from 12-16 years football/Circuit training is on every Monday from 6.30pm – 7.30pm at the clubhouse. Training is open to all and new members are especially welcome.
