Club News 19th September

The Championship came to an end for our senior footballers on Saturday evening last as they lost out to Naomh Colmcille at the O'Donnell Park. Attention now turns back to the League where the lads have three remaining games. These games will be played in early October.


The annual underage party for footballers, hurlers and Camogs will take place in the Arena 7 on Friday the 29th of September from 5-7pm. See Club Facebook for more details.

Adults, children, do you want to be involved in Scór? Whether performing or helping the performers to prepare we need musicians, singers, Irish dancers, actors, public speakers, quizzers. If you can help or you can perform please contact Bairbre 089 4218215. Let's do our club proud again this year. Bainfidh tú sult as!

The U-11 footballers traveled across town on Friday evening to take on neighbours St Eunan's in a friendly. This was an enjoyable match for both teams and a rematch will be played in the coming weeks at Páirc na nGael.

  • Outdoor Underage football training concludes this Sunday morning and will resume indoors during February 2018. More details to follow.
  • Outdoor Camogie training has concluded for the season and the girls will return to indoor training at the LYIT hall in October.

The U-8 and U-10 girls have a blitz this Saturday morning in Burt.

The U-13 Hurlers will be taking part in the North West Regional Tournament during October.

  • Outdoor Hurling training has concluded for the season and Indoor Hurling will start in the Aura Leisure Centre on  Thursday 19th October 6.30 to 7.30. Open to boys 4 to 14 years and girls 4 to 12years. New players always welcome. For more information contact Sharon 0868405785 or Dan 0867392780.
  • U16 Hurling continues with our U16's playing an U16 Shield final this Thursday against either Setanta or Aodh Ruadh.
  • The U16's and Minors will be holding indoor sessions in the coming weeks with days and times to be confirmed.

The U-11 girls were defeated by Doire Colmcille at the pitch on Sunday past in their final group game of the Inishowen League. The U-9 & U-11 girls now look forward to playing in the Shield Final which is fixed for Burt next weekend.

U-16s girls and younger football training continues on Sunday mornings from 11am-12 noon at Pairc na nGael.

Club News 12th September

Both the reserve and senior footballers traveled to Dunkineely to take on Naomh Ultan on Saturday evening past. The seniors won their game with one point to spare while the reserves were defeated.

This weekend sees the return of the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Junior A Championship where our senior team will take on neighbours Naomh Colmcille in the semifinal. See Club Facebook page for fixture details.


Well done to two Letterkenny Gaels men on opposite sides of the planet on their recent victories with their adopted clubs. Adam Moore captained Fraser Valley Gaels in Vancouver to the North American Football Championship while James Doherty won the Western Australian Football Championship with Greenwood GFC in Perth.


The U-10 footballers were busy again last weekend as they took part in the annual Gary Doyle Memorial football tournament hosted by St. Eunan's on Saturday. Underage football training continues every Sunday morning from 10.30am at the Glebe.


Congratulations to Tori Ellis, Eimear Uí Bhaoghill and the Donegal U-14 Camogie squad who won the All Ireland Blitz on Saturday.

Camogie training for these girls continues every Friday evening from 6-7pm at Páirc na nGael.

U-14 hurling training continues every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.30-7.30pm.

Underage training continues every Thursday evening for U-6, U-8 and U-10 from 6.30-7.30pm. New players always welcome..

The U-9 and U-11 girls footballers hosted Steelstown GAA from Derry in horrible wet and windy conditions at Páirc na nGael on Sunday afternoon in their third game of the Inishowen girls League. The girls had mixed results with the U-9 girls losing narrowly and the U-11 girls winning their game.

Our U-13 girls had recent victories against Naomh Muire on Wednesday evening and St. Michaels on Saturday. The girls are now guaranteed a League semifinal spot. They play Mac Cumhaills this week..

U-16s girls and younger football training continues on Sunday mornings from 11am-12 noon at Pairc na nGael.

Club News 29th August

On Saturday evening past the senior footballers had a good win over Red Hughs in the League. Both the seniors and reserves are free this weekend.

The Camogie crew held a massively successful camp at Páirc na nGael last weekend which concluded with an action packed game between 'The Girls and Parents' on Sunday evening. Well done to Aideen, Annie and the coaches for a great three days.

Preparations are well underway for Letterkenny Gaels first ever Inter-Club U-10 Football Tournament which takes place this Saturday 26th August at Páirc na nGael.

  • Underage football training continues every Sunday morning at the pitch for U-6's from 11am-12noon and
  • 10.30am-12noon for U-8's and U-10's. New members always welcome.

The U-12 hurlers played their last league game of the season away to Buncrana on Thursday evening and were beaten by a stronger team.

  • U-12 Hurling training continues on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm.
  • U-14 hurling training continues every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.30-7.30pm.
  • Underage training continues every Thursday evening for U-6, U-8 and U-10 from 6.30-7.30pm. New players always welcome.

The U-10 girls hosted a blitz at Páirc na nGael on Wednesday evening with Termon, St. Eunan's and MacCumhaills also taking part.

Letterkenny Gaels' Rachel Tinney travelled to Dublin to take part in the U-17 Girls Development Squad blitz last Tuesday. The girls reached the All Ireland A Final but lost out to Dublin.

On Saturday evening past the Junior B team bowed out of the Championship after they were defeated by St Mary's Convoy in the semifinal. The Junior A lads had better fortunes when they defeated Convoy in their Championship on Sunday. This result now means they will play in the semifinal in mid September. This weekend attention turns back to the league where the lads travel to Killygordon on Saturday evening. Please see Facebook for fixture details. All support welcome. 

Good luck to Oisin Cannon and the Donegal Senior Ladies Football team in their TG4 All Ireland Quarter Final against Mayo in Mullingar on Saturday.

Club News 1st August

Both the reserve and senior footballers lost their league matches away to Burt on Sunday past. This weekend sees the resumption of the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Junior A Championship with the lads taking on Naomh Padraig Lifford on Sunday afternoon. Please see Facebook for fixture details.

Our annual Kellogg's Cúl Camp concluded on Friday last with 150 children taking part. Thanks to Cormac Cannon and his team of coaches for their help during the week.

Hard luck to our U-16 footballers who lost out in their Northern Shield final against Red Hughs on Friday evening.
The Minor footballers Championship season kicked off on Wednesday evening with a tough encounter away to MacCumhaills with the hosts claiming victory.

Both the reserve and senior footballers travelled to Traigh a Locha to take on Fanad Gaels at the weekend with the hosts winning the two games. The Junior B Championship match away to Pettigo is scheduled for this weekend. Please see Facebook for fixture details.

There are two remaining Summer camps coming up at Letterkenny Gaels with the annual Cúl Camp starting on Monday and Camogie Camp scheduled for 18th of August. See Facebook for more information.

The Minor footballers played St Mary's Convoy on Monday night last in the Shield final. This high scoring game finished with a Convoy win.

The Letterkenny Gaels U9s and U10s continued their Northern Board Summer Blitz series on Saturday morning at Páirc na nGael. The Club hosted two very strong teams from Buncrana and Sean MacCumhaills. The visiting teams both fielded two teams and there was some great football skills on display.  All games were played with great spirit and effort.  Fortunately for the watching crowd the weather was kind and stayed dry for the duration of the Blitz. Training continues for our young footballers every Sunday morning at 10:30am for U-8s, U-9s and U-10s. New boys and girls are welcome to try out anytime.


The U-12 hurlers played Mc Cumhaills on Thursday evening last on the County grounds and had a good win over the young Finn Valley side.

The Junior A Championship match between Letterkenny Gaels and Na Rossa took place at a very wet Páirc na nGael on Sunday morning past. The lads had a good three point win with Shay Doherty finishing the game with eight points. As Urris were unable to field the Junior B team are now guaranteed a semifinal spot in their championship. Attention now turns back to the league with the teams traveling to Fanad this weekend. Throw in times to be confirmed. See Facebook for details.


The Donegal v Galway Football Qualifier game is fixed for Saturday 22nd July in Sligo with time to be confirmed. The Club will be accepting orders for Stand Tickets ONLY while Terrace tickets can be purchased at Kelly's Centra or online. Ticket orders should be TEXT to 087 4104058 no later than 6pm on Saturday 15th July.

The U-12 hurlers had a good game against Setanta on Thursday evening with the Killygordan men grinding out a victory.

On Tuesday evening the Minor hurlers travelled to Burt to play in the Minor Championship semi final. While the lads played an evenly matched game showing great skills it was not enough to secure a win and lost out to a determined Burt team. Thanks to Conor, Stephen and Pauric for all the work during year with the lads.

On Sunday morning our young Ladies Football team made the short journey to Ballybofey to take on Sean Mac Cumhaills in the first leg of the Ladies Junior B Football Championship. Unfortunately the ladies lost out to a stronger and more experienced Twin Towns outfit.

Letterkenny Gaels U-8 & U-10 Camogs travelled to Burt on Friday evening to participate in their second Blitz of the season. The girls played a number of entertaining matches against the hosts Burt and neighbours St. Eunan's. Thanks to all the parents for traveling and supporting the girls and to Burt for hosting.

The Junior Championship took centre stage last weekend with the Junior B's recording a good win over Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin and the Junior A's sharing the spoils with Naomh Colmcille. This weekend the action continues at Páirc na nGael where we welcome Pettigo and Na Rossa for the respective Championships. All support welcome. Throw in times to be confirmed. The Seamus De Faoite Summer School will be running from 17th-21st of July. This Ulster GAA Irish language course is free to Club members and anyone interested can get more information on the Club Facebook page.

There was great excitement at the Glebe last Friday evening as the U-8 & U-10 Camogie girls hosted their first All County Blitz of the year.
